Grand Island Lions Club Board Meeting May 12th 2021

Attendance:  Paul Krupa, Henry Lobl, Dick Crawford, Tom Rusert, Paul Bassette, Anne Fahning, Kelly McGarvey, Dave Chervinsky, Tom Witkowski, Donna Lavallee, Tom Butler.

Membership: For family membership Lion Anne and Lion Jim Ryan Jim is a lifetime member which applies to LCI but not for state and district.
Lion Anne and Lion Jim Ryan cost for membership: Full state, full district, Lion Jim no international dues as he is a life member: total would be $85.50 for both members.  Lion Tom W will email the details to Lion Anne R.  Lion Jim will be transferring over to GI, his club will have to release him.

Special Kids Picnic:  Discussion regarding whether or not to host the picnic this year.  Logistically it is difficult with the restrictions of the pandemic, limiting the number of children.  Motion to table the Special Kids Picnic until 2022 Lion Paul Krupa seconded by Lion Paul Bassette, all in favor.  Lion Paul will contact Lion Ashley to inform her of this change. 

Lion Dick: was approached by the Kiwanis club to do something for the GIHS senior class, however, they have not contacted us.

Eyeglass collection: Coordinated by Lion Kim Pressley and Lion Bob Goulding. At the moment there is no place to send them, however, Lion Kim has a sorting station and will continue to take glasses.

Anne F. Moved to approve treasurer’s report
Seconded by Tom R. No discussion. Motion
passed
Paul B. Peace Poster contest. This years theme
Journey of peace
Discussion about date . Either last meeting of Oct
or first meeting of Nov.
Paul B will check with Dick about meeting at Community
Center and having meal catered.
May include three most recent contests , or at least
2 .
Pres Kim will contact committee chairs for the new
year.
Paul K . Meeting idea. Donna W. to give presentation
regarding health issues and clean up of Tonawanda
Coke. He will check her availability for second
meeting in Sept.
Eye glass collection. Looking for someone to take
over collecting eyeglasses for Grand Island locations.
Walmart is currently accepting them. Lion
Pres Kim is currently doing it until a replacement is
found.
Tom W. is looking into ways for people to donate to
the Club through Venmo or a similar ap.
Anne F All set for White Cane Drive
Tom R. Thanks to those who donated to Neighbors
Foundation.
Tom W – District report
State convention will be in Niagara Falls in May
Made motion to donate $25 to Ray Wheeler Seconded
by Paul K . Motion was passed.
Vision screening in the schools will start soon . If
you like to volunteer contact Tom W
Sharon Bataglia wants to come to meeting to work
on membership and orientation.
Made motion to donate $100 to WNY Riding Lions
( New Club) Seconded by Henry. Motion passed
Dist Gov will be at our Dec. meeting
